A minor in mathematics consists of 18 – 20 hours of mathematics at the 200 level or above.

Minor Studies

Required for all Mathematics Minors:

MATH 221 - Calculus I (4 hours)
MATH 222 - Calculus II (4 hours)
MATH 321 - Calculus III (4 hours)

In addition, you will take one of two course sequences:

Pure math minor (6 hours)

MATH 330 - Discrete Mathematics (3 hours)
MATH 325 - Abstract Algebra (3 hours)

Applied math minor (8 hours)

MATH 326 - Linear Algebra (4 hours)
MATH 351 - Differential Equations (4 hours)

Note:

Students lacking an appropriate mathematics background may be required to take MATH 111 College Algebra and/or MATH 130 Precalculus prior to enrolling in MATH 221 . These courses do not count towards the 18-20 hours required in the minor.

IMPORTANT DEPARTMENTAL POLICY: A student who has received credit for a Mathematics course numbered MATH 221 or higher may not subsequently take a 100-level Mathematics course for credit.
