LEAD 375 - Leading Up, Down, and Across the Organization

(3 hour(s)) Prerequisites: LEAD 305 and permission of the coordinator of leadership program or dean. The essence of leadership is influence. While students are taught to lead followers, the assumption is often that they have organizational power as they lead. This may or may not be true. In this course, students are challenged to learn to lead without power. How do leaders lead volunteers? How do they lead their bosses? How can they lead organizational peers when they do not have formal authority? The key is understanding the nature of influence. This course cannot be challenged.
