A major in English with a Writing Emphasis consists of 40 hours and requires a minor.

English with a Writing Emphasis (40 hours) + Liberal Arts Core (47 hours)

Note:
ENGL 111 and 112 are to be taken in sequence and are prerequisite to all other English courses.
Major Studies (40 hours)
Students must earn grades of “C” or better in courses counting toward the major. Group I: Required Courses (19 hours)
Group II: Literature before 1800 (3 hours from)
Group III: American Literature (3 hours from)
Group IV: Nineteenth-Century British Literature (3 hours from)
Writing Emphasis Electives (9 hours)
The student must successfully complete 3 classes from the list below: Major Elective (3 hours)
