MPAS 500 - Human Anatomy


(4 hours) Prerequisites: Matriculation into the Physician Assistant Program. This is a 5-week course that is lecture and lab-based, both meeting four days each week.  It is designed to introduce students to the fundamentals of gross anatomy. Anatomy is presented by body regions to allow students to assimilate the regions in an organized and logical fashion. The course focuses on recognizing structural arrangements and relationships while introducing clinical applications of gross anatomy to the day-to-day practice of medicine. Emphasis is on knowledge of normal anatomic structures.  Students are introduced to the relationship of human anatomy to physical exams, procedures, and surgery. Lab dissection will be conducted with cadavers. Digital technology will be used to reinforce and clarify content learned from dissection. Note: This course cannot be challenged.
