GEOL 106 - Planetary Geoscience


(4 hour(s)) Corequisites: GEOL 106L. An introduction to the history of planetary and solar system exploration and the science of the formation of planetary bodies and moons. In addition to examining the processes involved in the formation of planetary bodies, geologic processes including wind and liquid erosion, volcanism, and body impact which continue to alter and transform planetary surfaces will also be examined. As the best studied body in our solar system (outside of the Earth itself), the Moon will receive special emphasis. This course cannot be challenged. Note: Laboratory fee required.
