MSOM 653 - Supply Chain Information Technology (3 hours) This course serves to provide students a foundation in supply chain logistics and information technology management and how it relates to overall supply chain management. The use of information technology (IT) is considered a prerequisite for the effective control of today’s complex supply chains. This course will explore Supply Chain Logistics. Student attention is directed to the logistical mission confronted by various types of business organizations. Logistics is positioned as a value-adding process that achieves time and place synchronization of demand with operational fulfillment. Emphasis will be placed on challenges related to providing logistical support for procurement, manufacturing and marketing-distribution. This course will focus on supply chain strategy, logistics information systems, segmental positioning, order management and fulfillment, inventory, forecasting and collaborative planning. In addition we will focus on more operational issues relating to transportation, third party logistics, warehousing, materials handling, international logistics, and facility network design.
