Accreditation

Charleston Southern University (CSU) is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC) to award bachelor’s, master’s, and doctorate level degrees. The athletic training program (M.AT) is nationally recognized by CAATE (Commission on Accreditation of Athletic Training Education) as an accredited athletic training  program. The Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA), the Master of Arts in Organizational Leadership (MA) and Master of Business Administration (MBA) offered through the CSU College of Business have received specialized accreditation through the International Accreditation Council for Business Education (IACBE). The College of Education is accredited by the Council for the Accreditation of Educator Preparation (CAEP). Charleston Southern University is accredited by National Association of Schools of Music. The Music Therapy program is approved by the American Music Therapy Association. The Nursing program has full approval of the South Carolina Board of Nursing and is accredited by the Accrediting Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN). The university is a member of the American Council on Education, the National Association of Independent Colleges and Universities, the International Association of Baptist Colleges and Universities, the South Carolina Association of Colleges, South Carolina Independent Colleges and Universities, the South Carolina Association of Colleges for Teacher Education, the South Carolina College Council, the National League for Nursing and the American Association of Colleges of Nursing. CSU is a full member of the National Council for State Authorization Reciprocity Agreements (NC-SARA). The Accreditation Review Commission on Education for the Physician Assistant (ARC-PA) has granted Accreditation - Provisional status to the Physician Assistant Program. The Accreditation Review Commission on Education for the Physician Assistant, Inc. (ARC-PA) has granted Accreditation-Continued status to the Charleston Southern University Physician Assistant Program sponsored by Charleston Southern University. Accreditation-Continued is an accreditation status granted when a currently accredited program is in compliance with the ARC-PA Standards. Accreditation remains in effect until the program closes or withdraws from the accreditation process or until accreditation is withdrawn for failure to comply with the standards. The approximate date for the next validation review of the program by the ARC-PA will be March 2032. The review date is contingent upon continued compliance with the Accreditation Standards and ARC-PA policy. The program’s accreditation history can be viewed on the ARC-PA website.
