Accreditation

 

Charleston Southern University (CSU) is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC) to award bachelor’s, master’s, and doctorate level degrees. Charleston Southern University also may offer credentials such as certificates and diplomas at approved degree levels. Questions about the accreditation of Charleston Southern University may be directed in writing to the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges at 1866 Southern Lane, Decatur, GA 30033-4097, by calling (404) 679-4500, or by using information available on SACSCOC’s website (www.sacscoc.org). The athletic training program (M.AT) is nationally recognized by CAATE (Commission on Accreditation of Athletic Training Education) as an accredited athletic training  program. The Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA), the Master of Arts in Organizational Leadership (MAOL) and Master of Business Administration (MBA) offered through the CSU College of Business have received specialized accreditation through the International Accreditation Council for Business Education (IACBE). The College of Education is accredited by the Council for the Accreditation of Educator Preparation (CAEP). Charleston Southern University is accredited by National Association of Schools of Music. The Music Therapy program is approved by the American Music Therapy Association. The Nursing program has full approval of the South Carolina Board of Nursing and is accredited by the Accrediting Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN). The University is a member of the American Council on Education, the National Association of Independent Colleges and Universities, the International Association of Baptist Colleges and Universities, the South Carolina Association of Colleges, South Carolina Independent Colleges and Universities, the South Carolina Association of Colleges for Teacher Education, the South Carolina College Council, the National League for Nursing and the American Association of Colleges of Nursing. CSU is a full member of the National Council for State Authorization Reciprocity Agreements (NC-SARA). The Accreditation Review Commission on Education for the Physician Assistant (ARC-PA) has granted Accreditation - Provisional status to the Physician Assistant Program.  Effective April 26, 2022, Charleston Southern University has been granted Candidate for Accreditation status by the Commission on Accreditation in Physical Therapy Education (3030 Potomac Ave., Suite 100, Alexandria, Virginia 22305-3085; phone: 703-706-3245; email: accreditation@apta.org). Candidate for Accreditation is an accreditation status of affiliation with the Commission on Accreditation in Physical Therapy Education that indicates the program may matriculate students in professional courses. Achievement of Candidate for Accreditation status does not assure that the program will be granted Initial Accreditation.
