AERN 160 - Introduction to Pilot Training

(3 hours) This course provides a foundational instruction necessary to prepare students for their written Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Private Pilot’s License (PPL), and commence with initial flight training to satisfy PPL practical requirements. Students will conduct their flight training through the Lowcountry Aviation Association at John’s Island Executive Airport, and will fly twice per week minimum, for a total of 20 hours of flight instruction, and an additional 10 hours of ground instruction by their designated FAA Certified Flight Instructor(s).   Upon completion of this course, students will be prepared to take the FAA written examination for their PPL, and should solo if they’ve not already.  For those who achieve a PPL prior to the end of the semester, they may conduct the remaining of their flight training through an FAA-approved, tailored flight instruction program. Lab fee of $3800 is required. This course may not be challenged.
