Dismissal From Music Education Program

If a student is unable to successfully pass on the second attempt Biology 210, Music 241 and 371, or a required course listed under Major Studies, he or she will be dismissed from the program. A student may also be dismissed from the program at the discretion of the music education faculty for reasons including, but not limited to, a pattern of poor academic performance; observed deficits in interpersonal communication or relationships, critical thinking, music, or teaching skills; unacceptable personal responsibility or professional behavior; or lack of insight or understanding about concepts related to the successful provision of music education services. Please refer to College of Education documents and the Horton School of Music handbook for related policies.

Note:

Graduation Credit Hour Requirements

All students must earn a minimum of 120 credit hours to graduate.
Students who have taken MATH 099 or ENGL 099 must complete at least 124 credit hours.
Students who have taken both MATH 099 and ENGL 099 must complete at least 128 credit hours.
All students must also satisfy the Residency Requirements as outlined in this catalog.
