A major in Biochemistry consists of 66-68 hours in Biology, Chemistry, and Physics and does not require a minor. If a student chooses a minor, they may not choose Chemistry and/or Biology.

Liberal Arts Core (47 hours)

See Liberal Arts Core (LAC) for all bachelor degrees ; must include the following:
MATH 130 - Precalculus (4 hour(s)) (MATH 110 or MATH 111 is a prerequisite to MATH 130.)

Foreign Language requirement (hours included above)

Students are required to take a minimum of 3 credit hours but are not required to progress past FL 202 (Intermediate II) if the student places higher than FL 201. If a student places higher than 202, the student has completed her/his required FL credit. Note that this placement does not count toward the required 120 hours (may vary according to degree) required of all CSU students.

Choose one of the following courses:

ARAB 110 and 110L, 120, 201, or 202 or
FREN 110 and 110L, 120, 201, or 202 or
SPAN 110, 111 or 112 and 110L, 101, 102, 120, 201, or 202 or
CHST 121, 122, 131, or 132 or
Any other 3 hour foreign language course.

Major Studies (66-68 hours)

Suggested electives

Effective in 2015, changes have been made to the Medical College Admissions Test (MCAT). It now includes a behavioral and social sciences component. Therefore, for those students who will be taking the MCAT, the following courses are suggested electives:

PSYC 110 - General Psychology (3 hour(s))
SOCI 101 - Principles of Sociology (3 hour(s))

Note:

Graduation Credit Hour Requirements

All students must earn a minimum of 120 credit hours to graduate.
Students who have taken MATH 099 or ENGL 099 must complete at least 124 credit hours.
Students who have taken both MATH 099 and ENGL 099 must complete at least 128 credit hours.
All students must also satisfy the Residency Requirements as outlined in this catalog.
