A major in Music Education (Instrumental) or (Piano) consists of 90 hours and does not require a minor. A grade of “C” or better is required in all courses in the major with the exception of Studio Lessons and Ensembles, where a minimum grade of “B” must be earned.

Dismissal From Music Education Program
If a student is unable to successfully pass on the second attempt Biology 210, Music 241 and 371, or a required course listed under Major Studies, he or she will be dismissed from the program. A student may also be dismissed from the program at the discretion of the music education faculty for reasons including, but not limited to, a pattern of poor academic performance; observed deficits in interpersonal communication or relationships, critical thinking, music, or teaching skills; unacceptable personal responsibility or professional behavior; or lack of insight or understanding about concepts related to the successful provision of music education services. Please refer to College of Education documents and the Horton School of Music handbook for related policies. Note:
All students must have at least 120 hours to graduate. Students who took MATH 099 or ENGL 099 will need at least 124 hours to graduate. Full Bridge students will need at least 128 hours. Students must meet the Residency Requirements described in this catalog. |
