A minor in mathematics consists of 18 - 20 hours.

Students lacking an appropriate mathematics background may be required to take
MATH 110
/ MATH 111 College Algebra and/or MATH 130 Precalculus prior to enrolling in MATH 221 . These courses do not count towards the 18-20 hours required in the minor.
IMPORTANT DEPARTMENTAL POLICY: A student who has received credit for a Mathematics course numbered Math 221 or higher may not subsequently take a 100-level Mathematics course for credit.

Minor Studies (12 hours)

Required for all Mathematics Minors:

Minor Electives (6 - 8 hours)

In addition, you will take one of two course sequences:

Pure math minor (6 hours)

Students must take MATH 330 and either MATH 325, 410, or 435.

MATH 330 - Discrete Mathematics (3 hour(s))
And one of the following:
MATH 325 - Abstract Algebra (3 hour(s)) Fall only or
MATH 410 - Real Variables (3 hour(s)) Spring only or
MATH 435 - Number Theory (3 hour(s)) Spring only

Applied math minor (8 hours)

MATH 326 - Linear Algebra (4 hour(s)) Spring only
MATH 351 - Differential Equations (4 hour(s)) Fall only

Note:

All students must have at least 120 hours to graduate. Students who took MATH 099 or ENGL 099 will need at least 124 hours to graduate. Full Bridge students will need at least 128 hours. Students must meet the Residency Requirements described in this catalog.
