History (B.S. Degree)

A major in History consists of 33 semester hours, including the History Liberal Arts Core and additional lower-level History requirements, of which a grade of “C” or better is earned in each course. All majors must complete History 450  to graduate.

Liberal Arts Core notes


All students placed in ENGL 099  must complete the course successfully before being allowed into History 111 , 112 , or 113 . Mathematics 105  or higher satisfies the liberal arts core requirement in Mathematics for this major.

Major Studies with Emphases in European or American History


 

Upper-level electives (18 hours)


European emphasis requires 12 hours of European history and 6 hours of American history.
or
American emphasis requires 12 hours of American history and 6 hours of European history.

Historiography (3 hours)


 

Note:


With the approval of the History Department, a student may apply one of the following courses to a history major:

   or a course in political science.

Students must also meet the Residency Requirements  described in this catalog.
