A major in Biology with a General Emphasis consists of 53 hours; 49 semester hours in Biology courses and the required 4 hours of supporting studies and does not require a minor. Courses from other departments are also required as shown below.

Note:
All students placed in ENGL 099 and/or MATH 099 must complete the course(s) successfully before being allowed into BIOL 161, BIOL 161L, BIOL 162 or BIOL 162L. Major Studies (53 hours):
Required Biology Electives (25 hours):
Students must take an additional twenty five hours of Biology classes. Students may only use 4 hours of research toward their Biology electives. Biol 110 is not an approved elective.
