AERN 327 - En Route Procedures (3 hour(s)) Prerequisites: AERN 320. An undergraduate course in the study of Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) en route center procedures and sector operations. Students study high- and low-altitude structures, route systems, and sectorization within the United States air traffic system. Emphasis includes vertical and lateral separation, nonradar procedures, and radar applications in center airspace. Students learn handoffs, point-outs, traffic management initiatives, and coordination requirements. Students will undergo scenario-based problems to reinforce careful application of FAA Job Order (JO) 7110.65 and related guidance to route, altitude, and crossing-restriction decisions. The course prepares students for advanced en route operations.
