AERN 324 - Tower Procedures (3 hour(s)) Prerequisites: AERN 320. An undergraduate course in the study of Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) airport traffic control tower (ATCT) procedures and services. Students progress from an understanding of air traffic control fundamentals to a structured, rule-based understanding of tower procedures and operations. Students will evaluate tower positions, runway and taxiway management, traffic sequencing, wake turbulence, and separation standards. Students interpret and apply FAA Job Order (JO) 7110.65 tower chapters to realistic traffic problems. Students will examine case studies that highlight runway incursions, loss-of-separation events, and mitigations through procedural discipline. The course prepares students for advanced tower operations.
