BIOL 219 - Microbiological Techniques


(1 hour(s)) Prerequisites: BIOL 210, BIOL 226, or BIOL 241. This course covers microbial structure, chemistry, growth, control, and classification of bacteria, fungi, protozoans, helminths and viruses. Bacterial genetics, antimicrobial medications, immune responses and diseases within each group are included. Students will become proficient in aseptic techniques, microscopy, staining, culturing and biochemical testing of microbes. Laboratory: 3 hours. This course cannot be challenged. Note: Laboratory fee required. Counts for ELR credit. Students cannot earn credit for both this course and BIOL 220.
