MGMT 444 - Human Resource Law


(3 hours) Prerequisites: BUSI 336 and MGMT 340. This course is designed to introduce students to the legal issues that directly affect individual employees and institutions in which they work.  Students will review the coverage and application of major federal workplace legislation including OSHA, FLSA, FMLA, and NLRA along with complementary state and local employment laws.  Anti-discrimination law as administered by the EEOC will also receive extensive treatment.  The course will be taught with a heavy emphasis on case study to ensure an understanding of the practical application of employment law in the “real world.”  The course will be cross-listed with BUSI 544.          This course cannot be challenged.
