PSYC 435 - Forensic Psychology


(3 hours) Prerequisites: PSYC 110, CRIM 210 plus 9 additional PSYC hours OR by permission of the Chairperson of the department.  

This course is designed to introduce students to the application of psychology within the legal and criminal justice systems. Students will be introduced to the roles and responsibilities of psychologists working within the and in conjunction with these systems. Areas of focus include forensic psychological assessments, expert testimony, correctional psychology, and offender treatment. Students’ knowledge of and ability to think critically about psychology in the legal and criminal justice systems will be increased. Cross listed with Criminal Justice. (Parent= Psychology).
