Master of Arts in Organizational Leadership


  •  Master of Arts in Organizational Leadership.

Students having any questions about courses or admissions policies should see their assigned academic advisor. The M.A. Curriculum is designed to sharpen the leadership skills required in business and non-profit organizations, government, military and educational organizations. The program provides them with an opportunity to develop these skills in an online or accelerated format. 

Completing a second Masters degree:
To complete a second masters degree  in the School of Business, a minimum of 24 additional credit hours are required.
Waived courses will include BUSI 610 and BUSI 623, and one other course as determined by the Director.

If a student has completed a MBA with a leadership emphasis, he cannot double count leadership electives for both the MBA and MA in Org. Leadership. The student may take additional electives in order to obtain another emphasis (e.g. Accounting, Finance, or General Management) and transfer the leadership courses to the MA Core.

M.A. in Organzational Leadership Curriculum (33 hours)


The Master of Arts in Organizational Leadership was developed to provide leaders from all walks of life with the opportunity to grow and develop. Students will be taught various aspects of leadership including the nature of leadership, culture, alignment, organizational behavior, communication, and the change process. The program was created with the working professional in mind.  Courses can be completed online or in the evening.

The Master of Arts in Organizational Leadership consists of a minimum of thirty three (33) semester-hours of credit.  The thirty three hour requirement will include a Foundation (3 courses), Core (4 courses), Capstone (1 course), Electives (3 courses). To provide flexibility, students may select as an elective any graduate course in the School of Business for which they have the prerequisites.

For the Master of Arts in Organizational Leadership,

  is mandatory. Students will receive general information about graduate education, an orientation to sites on campus, an opportunity to meet some of the officials of the University, and the opportunity to ask questions about the program. M.A. orientation will also provide students with an introduction to the academic rules and expectations of the program, an orientation to the type of technology they will be using, and an outline of the curriculum. The orientation program may be offered during summer if an adequate number of students register.

Foundation (9 hours)


Students should begin with foundation courses before moving into core courses. Foundation courses are designed to frame the core courses by creating a platform on which to build additional knowledge. Foundation courses include the following:

M.A. in Organzational Leadership Core (12 hours)


All M.A. students must complete 4 out the following 6 core courses, which account for twelve (12) credit hours. If you choose to take more than 4 courses, the other course(s) will count toward your MA electives.

Capstone (3 hours)


The capstone course is offered each Fall and Spring. While it does not have to be the last class, it should be taken after completion of Foundation and Core courses.

Electives (9 hours)


Students may choose any three graduate courses taught within the School of Business (BUSI) except those which are prerequisites for our MBA Program.  For example, BUSI 501, BUSI 502, BUSI 503, BUSI 504, BUSI 505, and BUSI 506 cannot count as electives.
