HIST 413 - The Korean Peninsula and its Neighbors


(3 hours) Prerequisites: HIST 111, 112, or 113. This seminar-style course introduces students to life on the Korean peninsula by examining Korean history, literature, and religious tradition from antiquity to the present. This course will focus on such issues as the historical development of Korean identity, the strategic influence of peninsula in East Asian and world affairs, and the complexity of North-South relations following World War Two.   
This course may count as an elective in World History for HIST majors, an upper-level elective for HIST minors, or as the second HIST course required by the Liberal Arts Core.
