Vision

The vision of the School of Christian Studies is to be recognized for preparing Christian disciples with the knowledge, skills, virtues and attitudes necessary for serving Christ and his church. The School of Christian Studies will model a sincere commitment to promoting the gospel and preserving biblical truth.

Educational Goals

The School of Christian Studies faculty plays an important role in the education of every student at the university. The faculty teaches not only majors and minors within the School of Christian Studies, but also non-majors and minors through the required Old Testament Survey and New Testament Survey classes, which form part of the Liberal Arts Core. As they disciple students both inside and outside the classroom Christian Studies professors aim to fulfill the following educational goals:

  • Majors will develop the knowledge, skills, and dispositions essential for a Christian disciple engaged in full-time ministry in the local church or a church-related institution (e.g., pastorate, student ministry, missions).
  • Majors will develop the knowledge, skills, and dispositions necessary for a Christian disciple who continues his or her education in graduate school (e.g, seminary) in an area related to Christian Studies.
  • Minors will develop the knowledge, skills, and dispositions related to the minors offered by the School of Christian Studies (Christian Leadership, Christian Studies, Christian Missions and Church Planting, and Christian Worldview and Apologetics) for the purpose of thinking and living as a Christian disciple in their vocation.
  • Non-majors and minors will develop the knowledge, skills, and dispositions tied to Old Testament Survey, New Testament Survey, and Christian Studies elective courses.
